[EN] The uses of water resources of the river Júcar have been a recurring element of conflict throughout the history that, at some times, deepened. This is what happened between the late sixteenth century and early seventeenth centuries, coinciding with climatic variations derived from the Little Ice Age. The building of dams, specks and other structures to slow the free flow of the river produced a clash of interests in different aspects such as economic, political or jurisdictional between the different towns of the area of the Ribera del Júcar (Carcaixent versus Alzira, Alzira versus Sueca…) channelled largely through the courts of the kingdom. [EN] Franco's policy of integrating all existing labour organisations in the Spanish Trade Union Organisation found many obstacles in its path. Some agricultural institutions such as irrigation ones, dangerously resisted to the incorporation into guilds of the field. Defending its own independence changed from isolated reaction to a common strategy that in the fifties led to the creation of a National Federation of Irrigators Communities. L'aigua és un deis recursos naturals més importants per a la vida quotidiana de I'ésser huma. I el País Valencia és un territori de I'area mediterrania caracteritzat per la variabilitat i escassetat deis seus recursos hidraulics. Els espais de regadiu que conté són per tant un veritable exponent del patrimoni cultural del qual pot estar orgullós un poble, perque encara són vius. De fet, la cultura de I'aigua transcendeix allo que representa el patrimoni material i referma també el seu caracter immaterial quan s'endinsa en I'ambit de la tradició oral, els sabers i les formes de ser com a poble.
